Privacy Notice

Effective July 14, 2026

AltrEdit is responsible for the personal information described here. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to support@altredit.com.

Information we collect

  • Account information: display name, username, email address, password hash, verification status, account settings, and optional profile details.
  • Public activity: contributions, responses, Topic follows, Circle memberships where public, reactions, and other material you choose to publish.
  • Private trust and safety information: reports, appeals, moderation records, action budgets, duplicate-content fingerprints, and risk signals.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser/user-agent, session identifiers, request and error logs, timestamps, and security events.
  • Communications: messages and supporting information you send to support.

How we use information

  • Provide, authenticate, secure, personalize, and maintain the service.
  • Publish the content and profile information you intentionally make public.
  • Populate explicit feeds, search, notifications, Topics, and Circles.
  • Detect spam, duplicate activity, automation, abuse, and security incidents.
  • Review reports and appeals, enforce policies, and maintain accountable decision records.
  • Send transactional account, verification, recovery, safety, and service messages.
  • Comply with law, protect rights and safety, and establish or defend legal claims.

Legal grounds where applicable

Depending on your location, processing may be necessary to perform our agreement with you, comply with legal obligations, protect vital interests, pursue legitimate interests in operating a safe and useful service, or act with your consent. You may withdraw consent where consent is the basis, without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Public and private information

Usernames, profiles, contributions, responses, contextual reactions, and public Circle activity may be visible to anyone and indexed by search engines. Email addresses, reports, internal moderation reasons, risk signals, and action budgets are not public. A public moderation summary may describe a decision without identifying the reporter or disclosing sensitive evidence.

Sharing

We may share information with hosting, database, email, security, logging, font-delivery, and other service providers acting for us; with advisers; when required by lawful process; to address fraud or safety threats; or as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, or transfer after appropriate notice. We do not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Cookies and local storage

AltrEdit uses essential cookies for sessions, authentication, security, and CSRF protection. Theme and font preferences are stored locally in your browser. We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party behavioral analytics. If that changes, this notice and any required consent controls will be updated first.

Automated processing

Rate limits, daily action budgets, duplicate fingerprints, and feed scoring may automatically order or temporarily limit activity. We do not use AI-text detection as proof of misconduct. Permanent sitewide enforcement requires human review except for narrow, unambiguous security automation, and consequential decisions can be appealed.

Retention

We keep account and public contribution records while the account or canonical record remains active. Sessions and routine operational logs are short-lived; security, report, appeal, and moderation records may be kept longer when necessary for safety, accountability, legal obligations, or dispute resolution. Backups expire on a rotating schedule. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably needed, subject to legal and safety exceptions.

Your choices and rights

You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent where applicable by contacting support@altredit.com. We may need to verify the request and may retain limited records when required for security, legal compliance, or the integrity of public conversations. You may also complain to the privacy regulator where you live.

  • You can unfollow Topics, leave eligible Circles, remove bookmarks, and change browser preferences directly.
  • Deleting public content may not remove quotations, lawful archives, moderation records, or copies retained in backups until rotation.
  • AltrEdit does not discriminate against users for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Children

AltrEdit is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. You must be at least 13—and old enough in your country to consent to an online service—or have legally valid guardian authorization where permitted. Do not create an account if the service cannot lawfully process your information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information unlawfully.

Security, international use, and changes

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no system is completely secure. The service may be operated and supported in countries different from yours; required transfer safeguards will be documented before serving jurisdictions that require them. Material changes will be dated and communicated through the service or email when appropriate.
