Before replacing a washing-machine drain pump, check these three things
A safe diagnostic sequence for a common no-drain problem, with clear stopping points for calling a technician.
Unplug the machine and close the water supply before opening any service panel. Start with the accessible filter and drain hose; coins, hair ties, and compacted lint account for many apparent pump failures.
If the impeller is accessible, it should turn with slight magnetic resistance but should not wobble sideways. A pump that receives voltage but only hums may be mechanically jammed. Voltage testing exposes live mains power and should be left to a qualified person unless you are trained and equipped for it.

A wet vacuum on the drain hose saved us from emptying the machine cup by cup. It is worth noting that the vacuum must stay outside the wet area.
Good addition. I would still start with towels and the service drain because hose access varies so much by model.
