The new protected route works well until the intersection at Mason Avenue, where riders are returned to mixed traffic for 300 meters before the school connector. That gap includes two turn lanes and no marked crossing.
A permanent redesign is already in the capital plan, but paint, flexible posts, and a leading pedestrian interval could create a legible interim route. I walked the segment at school arrival for five mornings; most younger riders used the sidewalk through the gap.

The five-morning observation is useful as a starting point. A school travel tally could show whether the sidewalk pattern persists across seasons.
