Six weeks of commute times before and after our bus lane opened
A rider-kept travel diary shows a modest average improvement and a much larger reduction in bad-delay days.
I logged door-to-door time for the same weekday trip during the three weeks before and three weeks after the Route 8 bus lane opened. I excluded two days when I changed destinations.
The median trip improved by four minutes, which is useful but not dramatic. The real difference was reliability: trips longer than 45 minutes fell from six to one. Boarding time at the busiest stop is now the largest source of variation, so all-door boarding may matter more than extending the lane another block.

The tail of the distribution is often where riders feel reliability. Would you be willing to share the anonymized daily times?
Yes. I removed exact boarding times and posted the 28 observations as a small CSV in the Circle notes.
Did the lane change bike conflicts at the two curbside stops, or was that outside what you tracked?
